Importance of Preventative Screenings

What is a preventative health visit?

A preventative health visit is a yearly appointment with your Primary Care Physician (PCP) to check your overall health. During your appointment your PCP create a personalized prevention plan to help prevent diagnosis of diseases and other potential risks.

What to expect at your preventative health visit?

During this visit, your PCP will order annual labs for you. These labs will help the doctor gather an understanding of your overall health. Typical labs that are ordered include: lipid panels, vitamin levels, sugar markers and thyroid testing.

If you are concerned about a test in particular, be sure to mention it to your PCP to have the levels checked.

In addition to lab testing, your PCP will also check your vitals. These include: weight, blood pressure, height and temperature. They will also listen to your heart and lungs to make sure there aren't any irregularities.

Please remember to schedule your preventative visit with Dr. Oyekoya today or with your PCP.
